I am Mary, (also known as Emmy or EmeraldSwan). I'm a wife, a mother, a student, a writer, an artist. This journal is friends locked. I have my reasons. Comment on the most recent public post to be added.
I occasionally (though not so often anymore) write fanfiction and make no excuses for it. It is something I enjoy. Most of it is also adult themed. I won't make excuses for that, either. My fandoms include Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Harry Potter, and Anita Blake. Most often lately, however, I've been reading Without a Trace (Danny/Martin) and CSI:NY (Danny/Don) fanfic. The majority of what I've been writing, however, is Buffy/Mal . . . Firefly/BtVS. God, but I love that pairing.

Sometimes people say they support causes without actually supporting causes. That's a sad, but true, fact in life. For me, the first two "causes" listed below are very, very personal and I will always support them. My brother died of Leukemia when he was 33. I was 19. It's easy to say that an event can change a life without actually having one do so. Me, I had one change me. Because of that, because of what I watch my brother go through, live through, fight through, Leukemia research and awareness will always be a cause close to my heart. And then there's HIV/AIDS. I've lost a very, very good friend to AIDS, and I know three other people infected. This is a virus that will not be going away anytime soon, and ignorance and indifference will only make things worse. If you ever want to do something for me, for whatever reason, or if you simply support these causes as well, donate. Or, if you - like me - don't always have the extra money to donate, put a banner and a link or two up on your journal/website. Volunteer. Do something. Support comes in many forms. Awareness is key. Help by doing your part.
